Our Initiatives

As a non-profit organization of the UST Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, we proudly carry the legacy of Thomasian excellence—dedicated to lighting up the path to a brighter future of medical education.

With this mission, we put our hearts into creating initiatives to implement our visions. We strive to achieve milestones that will benefit and inspire the next generation of aspiring Thomasian doctors.

Regent’s
Scholarship Program

Recognizing that medical education is still inaccessible to many, AFI seeks to award scholarships annually to deserving young men and women from low-income families to gain access to quality medical education at the university.

This program covers every scholar’s tuition, miscellaneous fees, boarding, books, and meal allowance until the completion of their courses.

We aim to strengthen the interface between classroom learning and the real-life clinical experience of our medical students with the construction of the Center for Simulation and Research, which will be housed in the Henry Sy Sr. Hall, and the renovation of the St. Martin de Porres Medicine building.

AFI shall continue to assist or create partnerships and programs to support and improve our equipment and facilities.

Community Outreach

The Community Outreach program, spearheaded by the Anargyroi: FMS Foundation, Inc., is designed to extend the Foundation’s mission of fostering excellence and transformative impact within the community. Rooted in our commitment to promoting allegiance and solidarity among alumni, academic staff, and medical students of the UST Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, this program focuses on creating meaningful connections and providing vital support to those in need.

Through a series of thoughtfully curated events and initiatives, we aim to uplift and empower individuals, ensuring sustainable and compassionate healthcare delivery. By leveraging strategic partnerships and responsible stewardship, our outreach efforts contribute to innovative medical education and breakthrough research, ultimately fostering a more inclusive and caring community.

Research

The UST-FMS stands out as a leading institution in Philippine medical education. Its hallmark lies in its relentless pursuit of innovation within its curriculum. Research is integral, empowering students to engage in projects spanning Anatomy, Pharmacology, Preventive Medicine, and Clinical Epidemiology.

Recognizing this pivotal role, both the Research Center for Health Science and the Oversight Committee of Research within FMS have devised strategic initiatives to enhance research productivity.

Fostering a supportive environment for research is paramount for cultivating a vibrant research culture within the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery. While the FMS serves as a fertile ground for research, there remains ample opportunity for advancement. It’s imperative that researchers transcend the “publish or perish” mindset, directing their efforts toward addressing the myriad health challenges confronting Filipino society.
